Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-04-27

We collect as little as possible — and your voice never leaves your computer. This page explains what does and doesn't happen when you use Just Parley and this website.

What stays on your device

Just Parley runs the speech-to-text model entirely on your Mac or Windows PC. Your microphone audio, your transcripts, and the text you dictate are processed locally and never sent to us or to any third party. There is no cloud transcription, no audio upload, and no clipboard logging. Meeting recordings work the same way: the audio, transcripts, speaker labels, and AI notes are saved as plain files on your disk and are never uploaded anywhere.

What the desktop app sends

  • Install heartbeat: the app sends an anonymous machine ID (a one-way hash that contains no personal data), your operating system, and the app version so we can count active installs. Nothing is gated on it — the app is free.
  • Update check: the app may check our server for new versions.

We do not collect names, emails, contacts, files, or any content you dictate.

What the website tracks

We use privacy-respecting, server-side analytics to understand which pages help people and which don't. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook pixels, or any cross-site advertising trackers.

  • Anonymous pageviews: page path, referrer, country (derived from your IP, not stored), device type, OS, browser, and a session ID.
  • Anonymous events: things like clicking the download button or scrolling to the pricing section, so we can see what's working.
  • Visitor hash: your IP address and user-agent are combined and hashed (SHA-256, truncated) to create a short anonymous fingerprint we use to deduplicate visitors. The raw IP is not stored in our analytics.
  • A/B test cookie: a single cookie called jp_variant is set to assign you to one of four landing-page variants. It contains a single letter (A, B, C, or D).

Donations

Just Parley is free. If you choose to donate, the checkout is handled entirely by LemonSqueezy, a Merchant of Record based in the United States. They process your card, charge tax where applicable, and email you a receipt — we never see your card number. We do receive your email address and order details from LemonSqueezy so we can say thank you and provide support. See lemonsqueezy.com/privacy for their policy.

Third parties we use

  • Cloudflare — hosts the website and its API endpoints, and provides bot protection. Cloudflare may see your IP address as part of normal request routing.
  • LemonSqueezy — handles donations, tax, and receipts.
  • GitHub — hosts the app installers we link to from the download page.

Cookies

We use one cookie: jp_variant (the A/B test assignment). We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or third-party tracking cookies. You can clear it at any time from your browser settings — you'll just be reassigned to a variant on your next visit.

Your rights

Costart Projects Ltd is based in the United Kingdom, so the UK GDPR applies. You have the right to access, correct, or delete the data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict its processing. Email info@justparley.com and we'll respond within 30 days. To delete an install record, send the machine ID shown on the app's About screen and we'll remove it.

Children

Just Parley is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be called out on this page.
